Joining the SAGA community is an opportunity for students to make a difference, expand their horizons and encourage the exchange of cross-cultural beliefs and ideologies.
Benefits of Being a SAGA Member
As a SAGA member, students will gain, confidence, develop themselves as leaders, refine their presentation skills and build their resumes for future educational and career endeavors. AYA has found that students who become involved in global/community activities while on-program are more likely to engage in global or community projects when they return to their home country.
- Students who complete 5 hours of service (community service and/or presentations) will receive an official certification from the AIFS Foundation recognizing their efforts as a student advocate.
- Students who complete 10 hours or more will receive an AYA t-shirt
- Students who complete 25 + hours will be entered in a raffle to win an iPod touch and receive special acknowledgement on the SAGA website.
- Students who complete 50+ hours will entered in a raffle to win an iPad and be featured in AYA’s quarterly newsletter and the SAGA website.
- Students who complete 100 + hours will receive an additional certificate acknowledging outstanding efforts and be eligible to win a student trip to the Better Understanding for a Better World (BUBW) conference.
How to Join
Complete the SAGA registration form. Once you register to become a SAGA member, you will receive a confirmation email and a Welcome package in the mail with materials and literature to get you started in your community.
