Salzburg, Austria, is one of the most elegant cities in Europe, renowned for its international arts, architecture and scenic mountains. The campus of the Amadeus Ferienschule summer program is situated in a beautiful park just 15 minutes from the center of Salzburg. Sport facilities include hard court tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball and track. The campus offers modern equipped classrooms, a theater, a library and its very own cinema.

No visa is required for this program.

Courses
The Amadeus Ferienschule summer program offers daily German language courses for students of all ages, levels and nationalities. Classroom training is from 9 a.m.-12:40 p.m. on weekdays and includes grammar, vocabulary building and conversational usage. During the afternoons, students are offered a choice of programs (see below).

4-week programs start on July 1, 8, 15 and 22

6-week program starts on July 1 or July 8

Choose from one of these exciting programs

#1 SuperSport
Provides the sports fan with an opportunity to enjoy two to three alpine and water sports per week. Activities are supervised by professional instructors and Amadeus Ferienschule teachers so that you will practice your German in a relaxed and adventurous atmosphere. No previous experience or equipment is required, just a swimsuit and a keen sense of adventure. Activities may include a rafting tour through alpine valleys, canyoning, mountain climbing with swimming in an alpine lake, water skiing, sailing and windsurfing.

#2 Music and Culture
For those who love music, theatre, culture, art, and history, this program gives you the opportunity to get in close contact with the Salzburger Festspiele (Salzburg Music Festivals). The most famous artists and directors work in Salzburg during the summer, and you will see how they prepare themselves and their orchestras (Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras) for operas and concerts. Activities include an introduction to the history and culture of Salzburg, city tour, visit to a rehearsal, concert, opera or theatre of the Salzburg Music Festivals, an opera in the Marionettentheater (puppet-show) and a concert in the Fürstenzimmer of the castle Hohensalzburg. Some knowledge of German is helpful.

#3 Intensive and Creative
In small groups you will practice your German language abilities with the people of Salzburg, affording you experience in practical language structures. Students also receive an additional 6 lessons of German per week. Activities include visits to the open air museum of Großgmain, typical Austrian farm houses, the castle Hohensalzburg and a full day excursion every Sunday.

Accommodations
Students share a room with twin beds in dormitories on the Amadeus Ferienschule campus. Dorms are equipped with kitchenettes, pool tables and meeting rooms.

Fee includes:

  • $500 application fee
  • Proficiency test given in Austria
  • Round trip airfare from New York, NY, to Munich
  • Medical insurance
  • 24-hour supervision
  • Course books
  • Accommodations in single, double or triple rooms and three meals per day
  • German language training (20 lessons per week) and Amadeus Certificate
  • Access to sports facilities on campus
  • Round trip transportation between Salzburg and Munich airport

  • Spending money
  • Passport processing fees
  • Bike rental and daily bus tickets
  • Domestic round trip airfares to/from New York

Credits
Transfer of credits is not guaranteed. Students must check with their high school advisor.
