Academic Year in America, sponsored by the American
Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation, and a sister
program of American Youth Abroad, gives scholarships to participating
host families and high schools that enroll/host an Academic Year
in America international exchange student in the United States.
The Academic Year in America program promotes cultural exchange
through education and offers American students the opportunity to
utilize these scholarships to study abroad. Please contact the AYA
office at (800) 322-4678, ext. 5164, to find out about hosting an
exchange student or to find out if your high school has AYA scholarships
available. Additional information about hosting a foreign exchange
student can be found here.
Please note:
- Individual scholarships are worth $500 toward a semester or
a summer program, or up to $1,000 toward an academic year program.
- A maximum of three scholarships may be combined (one high school
scholarship and two consecutive host family scholarships). The
maximum combined value is $3,000).
Scholarships may not be applied toward the application fee or
the program acceptance fee.
