Benefits provided under this plan include medically necessary treatment rendered by a physician or surgeon, confinement in a hospital, services of a, RN, x-rays, laboratory services, ambulance, or any other services, supplies or medicines prescribed by a physician.

Benefits are payable up to $50,000 for each illness or accident with a $25 deductible for each illness or accident. A complete Plan of Insurance will be sent to you upon your acceptance to the program.

Exception: Students who are applying to the academic year in the Netherlands program are required to buy insurance through a Dutch organization; they are also given the option to purchase additional AYA coverage.

24-hour travel coverage
The AYA insurance plan provides 24-hour travel assistance service to aid you in the event of a serious illness or injury. This travel assistance service, Team Assist, is staffed with multilingual medical professionals (including MDs and nurses) and coordinators fully trained to assist you.

Should the situation warrant, Team Assist will arrange and pay for any necessary medical evacuation to the nearest appropriate medical facility or repatriation to the United States. In order to be covered, all services will be approved and arranged by Team Assist. A toll-free number will be provided in the Plan of Insurance you will receive upon acceptance to the program, as well as a listing of additional Team Assist services.

In addition to the basic insurance coverage described above, you may purchase optional medical and/or baggage upgrade insurance prior to your arrival overseas.

The upgrade medical insurance increases the maximum benefit provided under the basic insurance from $50,000 to $100,000.

The optional baggage insurance provides $1,000 in personal effects coverage. There is a per occurrence personal effects deductible of $100 and a per limit item of $100 (cameras are limited to $250). Each of these upgraded coverages may be purchased separately or together.
