Compensation and Travel Opportunities for AYA Local Coordinators

AYA students with their local coordinatorAYA Local Coordinators have an exciting opportunity to assume a leadership position and make a meaningful, important contribution to their community. Local Coordinators are respected for the role they play by becoming active in their community and broadening the cultural awareness of those around them. A Local Coordinator is compensated based on the number of students placed and supervised during each semester or academic year.

National Meeting (international travel) 2008 in Cancun, Mexico!
Each year, AYA Local Coordinators who place the required number of students by the deadline earn a place at our National Meeting held in an international location. Local Coordinators from across the country meet with AYA national office staff for training workshops and award ceremonies. The Meeting is an opportunity for Local Coordinators to socialize with colleagues from across the U.S. and around the world.

Past destinations have included London, Madrid, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Budapest, Costa Rica, Barcelona, Dublin, Ecuador, Munich and Athens. Local Coordinators also have the opportunity to earn a trip for a companion or an extension trip (three to four extra days) by placing the additional number of students required.

Stipends
Local Coordinators receive stipends for each AYA foreign exchange student they place with a qualified host family and for supervising the student each semester. The stipends are usually more than enough to cover expenses incurred in the placement and supervision of AYA students.

Flexible hours
Local Coordinators determine how many hours per week they will devote to AYA activities – the position is flexible. Of course, the more time you devote to finding host families and schools, the more rewards you can expect!

Bonus Points
For each student placed, Local Coordinators also earn Bonus Points that can be accumulated and used for domestic and international airline travel and/or exciting vacations. Recent destinations have included Ireland, Hong Kong, France, Spain and Great Britain. Bonus Points can also be used toward items that will enhance your work as a Local Coordinator, such as digital cameras, computers, office supplies and business cards.

Placement incentives
Throughout the placement season, AYA may offer placement incentives to Local Coordinators in an effort to place specific students by set dates. These incentives may include additional Bonus Points, cash, extension trips to the National Meeting and other trips.

Experience Bonus
Local Coordinators earn yearly cash bonuses based on your date of hire and number of students placed.

Referral Opportunities
You can earn $250 if you refer a friend to become a Local Coordinator who is hired and places at least one student. After at least one year of experience as a Local Coordinator, you may earn up to $550 by referring and training new Local Coordinators in your area under the Go Fishing program. Call AYA for more details!
